A DAY ON A TREK

A trekking day usually follows a program, although this may alter on days when crossing a mountain pass, or on a day for acclimatization or when the itinerary has to be altered for local conditions.

The day begins at 6:00 a.m. with a cup of tea or coffee in your tent for the wake-up call followed by a small washing bowl of warm water. Breakfast is served at 6:30 a.m., the Sherpas break the camp and make loads for the porters. Around 7:30 a.m, start your morning trek for about 3 to 4 hours before arriving at a pleasant lunch spot.

In the afternoon, around 1:30 pm, resume trekking for about 3 hours to reach your camp where upon arrival tea or juice with snacks are served. Then some rest time or a visit of a village until your porters arrive. In the evening, Dinner is served in the mess tent at around 6:30 pm.

The evening meal is very often complet with a soup to begin then vegetables with / without meat , rice or noodles followed by tinned or fresh fruit and finally tea, coffee or hot chocolate. By 9 pm, most trekkers are in their sleeping bags.
